eDreams, an online travel agency, commissioned OnePoll in March 2023 to carry out research investigating interest in Detox holidays in 2023. This included looking into what type of Detox holiday they were interested in, reasons for going on Detox holidays, and destinations that they would most likely associate with a Detox holiday. We worked with the client to ensure the questions and answer options were correctly tailored to the audience polled.

OnePoll carried out 10,000 interviews in 8 different markets (UK/ Germany/ Spain/ France/ Italy/ Portugal/ Sweden/ US) among adults who have been on holiday in the last 5 years, using online quantitative polling. Cross breaks were delivered on the basis of gender, age range, and region/country.

Our research found that a majority (82%) of consumers would be interested in a detox holiday. The most popular Detox holiday was a Detox from work (37%), followed by a Digital detox (34%). Motivators for going on a detox holiday were to reduce stress and improve mood/energy levels (35%), and to reset and recharge (26%). When asked about how a holiday impacted their mental health, over 9 in 10 (92%) of consumers said that holidays had a positive impact on their mental health.

When asked about the type of destination they would like to go to to detox, 4 in 10 (40%) would like to go to a Sun and beach holiday. This was followed by Nature (23%) and a Big city (13%). Looking forward to 2023, over half (55%) of consumers said that they were prioritizing spending on travel over other leisure spending.

For the reports, OnePoll delivered both individual and merged data tables for each market, as well as executive summaries.
