In September 2022, Coursera approached OnePoll looking to commission research into leadership attitudes, what were the most valued attributes of business leaders today. They also wanted to understand how the increase in home/hybrid working since the Covid-19 pandemic had impacted leadership styles.
For this survey, OnePoll interviewed 1,000 managers across 8 markets (UK/US/ India/ Australia/ Mexico/ France/ Germany/ Saudi Arabia). They utilisied online surveys in order to do this, working with the client to determine the most appropriate questions to answer the client’s query. For the survey, 1,000 managers were interviewed using online quantitative polling.
We found that the most important leadership qualities were motivating a team (56%), encouraging employee development (44%) and learning and growing (39%). When looking into the impact of the increase in hybrid working, nearly 4 in 10 (38%) believed that it had had some impact on leadership styles. In terms of what has worsened since remote working has increased, 38% of managers chose ignoring work/life boundaries. This was followed by neglecting team morale and company culture (37%). However, when asked what their current work setup was, nearly 6 in 10 workplaces had adopted the hybrid working model (59%).
Excel tables were delivered to the client upon completion of the sampling, with cross-tabs by gender, age range, industry and country. A global merged executive summary was delivered including graphs of key questions.
