In 2021, OnePoll worked with the University of Sheffield on a research project funded by the Department of Health and Social Care. The topic, which was of a highly sensitive nature, looked at peoples’ experiences within a healthcare setting, and a wide range of factors that influenced post experience actions, across a 5-year period.
Research respondents were largely sourced from within OnePoll’s bespoke UK panel with a small supplement from a relevant specified database.
Given the highly sensitive nature of the topic, respondent wellbeing was of the utmost priority. With that in mind, OnePoll were careful to explain the reason for the study at the beginning of the survey and ensured that respondents felt both comfortable that their answers were confidential and assured that support was available if they required it.
The survey design required presenting each respondent with a randomised selection of example contexts and asking the respondent in each example to state what their choice would likely be from a short list of options. In total there were ten variable criteria used to create each context and in order to cover all potential combinations of criteria, OnePoll scripted over 120 separate contexts, of which each respondent would see ten . We then also included a number of demographic and behavioural questions, to allow multiple cross breaks and comparison points.
The ultimate deliverable for this project was a raw data file collating all respondents across our own panel and the supplemented database. The team at University of Sheffield were then able to take this data and run their own in-depth analyses as required. The results of this study will be used to generate content that will be published in academic journals and presented at conferences.
