Hotels.com wanted to understand how travelers from around the world incorporated their mobile phones into their travel activities.

OnePoll consulted with Hotels.com to fully understand the scope of the market research project and shape a questionnaire aimed at discovering the behaviours and actions of mobile phone users in relation to their holiday and travel habits.

Surveys from 31 countries across the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australasia were completed including countries such as China, Columbia, Denmark, Finland, India, Korea, Malaysia, Turkey and Russia.

The results clearly revealed how deeply embedded smart phone technology has become within travel, tourism and hospitality with 37% of people primarily turning to their smart phones for information whilst away.

From booking hotels to navigation on sight seeing excursions, the most important factors include payment method at 54%, genuine guest reviews at 48% and price comparison, also at 48%.

To support the data analysis, OnePoll worked with sister agency Oath to deliver detailed infographics and an animated video.
